Japan Alternative Investment Co., Ltd was established in December 2001 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd, and has progressed along the path of alternative investments, contributing to its spreading among investors in Japan.
As asset management continues to diversify globally, the role of alternative investments and its positioning have become increasingly significant by the year, and we expect alternative investment products to be a part of an extremely important investors’ asset class.
By maximizing our global network of notable foreign investment managers which we have fostered over the years and utilizing our unique methodologies of analysis and information gathering, we have continued to strive in making a difference in contributing to our clients’ asset management; identifying, developing and providing genuine top-tier investment products that meet the clients’ needs as well as providing post-investment services including functioning as a liaison between the investors in Japan and foreign investment managers. As the world continues to explore for a new financial order following the global financial crisis, the market environment surrounding alternative investments continues to change drastically. Under such circumstances, we feel that in order to win the trust and meet the expectations of our customers and be socially responsible and contribute accordingly, it is imperative to put ourselves in the position of the investors in developing our products and commit to provide the best.
In addition to our product lineup of major alternative investment products such as hedge funds, private equity funds and real estate funds, we will proactively develop and offer financial products, shedding a new light into the market and aim to create new values. We will base these products on real assets such as commodities, infrastructure, and corporate investment; the expertise on which Mitsui & Co. has developed over the years, taking advantage of our position as their strategic subsidiary.
For overseas investment managers, we are capable of providing opinion and feedback from investors in Japan based on our expertise which we have developed over the years and deep insight, functioning as a securities firm specializing in alternative investment with its broad and long track record with access to Japanese investors.
